IWAS Wheelchair Fencing Athlete Council Announced

Hong Kong's four time Paralympian, Yu Chui Yee claims Council Chair of the six-person team elected to represent the athletes of wheelchair fencing

IWAS Wheelchair Fencing is delighted to introduce the Chair and Members of the IWAS Wheelchair Fencing Athlete Council as nominated by Wheelchair Fencing Nations.

The Athlete Council elected its own Chair as Hong Kong’s, Yu Chui Yee. Having competed in four Paralympic Games and been a previous Member of the IPC Athlete Council Yu Chui Yee will bring a great deal of experience and knowledge to the Council.
The Athlete Council is made up of athletes with experience not only in Paralympic and World Championship Competition, but having personal qualifications and experience in athlete mentoring, journalism and media, tourism and hospitality, TV commentators and membership of a variety of  Board and Councils, to name just some of their collective qualities.
 
The Athlete Council will provide the ideal opportunity to have an ‘Athlete Voice’ allowing recommendations, suggestions from the fencers perspective to be shared with IWAS and IWAS Wheelchair Fencing. As well as bringing issues to the attention of the various WF Commissions and Executive Board, they will also be active in communicating decisions and issues affecting athletes to the whole of the fencing community.
