The IWAS World Youth Games touched down in the Americas for the first time in 2008.
Powerlifting, swimming and athletics were on the agenda as 20 countries made the journey to New Jersey.
The IWAS Athlete with Potential Award was handed-out for the first time at this edition.
Switzerland’s T53 wheelchair racer Catherine Debrunner became the first female athlete to win after grabbing gold in the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m and 1,500m. Russia’s Ivan Kodlozerov took the male award.
