This time nearly 600 athletes from 34 countries travelled to compete in six sports. Arm sport – or arm wrestling – was added to the programme due to its popularity in the host country.
Para taekwondo also made its IWAS World Games debut just months after it was announced that it would be at the Paralympic Games from Tokyo 2020.
Hosts Russia topped the medals table with 121 gold, 104 silver and 94 bronze.
