Now four-time Paralympian and nine-time Paralympic medal winner, Yu Chui Yee selected as Hong Kong's Opening Ceremony flag-bearer.

Wheelchair Fencer, Yu Chui Yee, is no stranger to the Paralympic Games. Having represented Hong Kong at three consecutive Games taking a total of nine medals, seven of which were gold, it is no surprise Yee is one of the world’s best known wheelchair fencers.

However, the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, held in store a first for the Games regular; she was selected to lead the Hong Kong delegation into the Opening Ceremony as the flag-bearer.

‘It is a huge honour to be the chosen as the flag-bearer for the Hong Kong team at my fourth Paralympic Games. When I was holding the Hong Kong flag ready to approach, the mood was very nervous and excited. After seeing the venue, Maracanã Stadium, with a full house audience, the atmosphere at the scene was electric. I’m looking forward to the event coming!’ she said of the experience.
