The sad news of the passing of Sir Harry Fang
25th August 2009
IWAS staff, members and friends were saddened today to hear the news from the Hong Kong Paralympic Committee that their President Professor Sir Harry Fang had passed away.
Professor Fang, who founded their association in 1972, had been instrumental in pioneering the development of sports for the disabled both in Hong Kong and around Asia.
Working tirelessly within the International Paralympic movement he also served at the Stoke Mandeville Games Federation. In due recognition of his services to the cause he received the highest tribute from the International Paralympic Committee, the Paralympic Order in 2001.
Professor Fang passed away peacefully on Monday 24th August 2009 after a prolonged illness.
We would like to offer our sincere condolences to Lady Laura and the Fang family.
