The much awaited event for Electric Wheelchair Hockey finally begins as teams and delegates arrive for the 2nd World Championships for the Sport

Italian Wheelchair Hockey Federation is all set to welcome all to the event being held in Lignano, Sabbiadoro
Finally the most eagerly anticipated event in the sport of Electric Wheelchair Hockey has begun. Playing host to seven nations from Europe, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Italy, Netherlands and Switzerland along with Australia will all compete in the 2010 World Championships.
In recent news for the event the President of the Italian Republic, Giorgio Napolitano agreed to grant the local organizing committee the Italian Wheelchair Hockey Federation (FIWH) with the High Patronage for WH World Championship.
Informed of the news, FIWH’s president Antonio Spinelli commented “It is a great moment for our movement. I’m excited for this important esteem we are honoured of.”
Over the initial days of the event official and technical meetings will be held, alongside ‘control and practise’ opportunities for the athletes. The competition will begin following the opening ceremony on Wednesday 3rd November with the final being played on November 7th.
Following the competition the International Committee of Electric Wheelchair Hockey (ICEWH) will be holding the 9th Sports Assembly, which will include discussions on many factors involved in the sport along with the election for the committee.
