Second Day of the IWAS World Games Tuesday 17th September

So with the final country Venezuela arriving late on Monday evening after a long and arduous journey the action has started here in Stadskanaal.   36 archers from 7 countries will be competing in the Individual/Team Compound and Recurve events over the next four days of competition.

So with the final country Venezuela arriving late on Monday evening after a long and arduous journey the action has started here in Stadskanaal.

36 archers from 7 countries will be competing in the Individual/Team Compound and Recurve events over the next four days of competition. 

Two of the top Russian archers hoping to achieve success here are Timur Tuchinov and Ardakhinova Stepanida.  

Timur who won gold at the London 2012 Paralympics in the Men’s Standing Individual and Team Recurve competition and is a former World and European Champion will be hoping for more medal success over the next few days. The twenty five year old amputee medical student started his sporting career ten years ago, and when not training relaxes by fishing and hunting .

Ardakhinova has been doing archery for 6 years and came into the sport by chance when she saw a note about Paralympic archery at school.  The 24 year old won silver at the 2011 World Championships in Italy and was delighted with her bronze medal at the Women’s Compound competition at last year’s London Paralympics.

Ardakinova who studied Law in University and is currently doing a second course in Physical Culture, along with her colleague Timur and the rest of the Russian archers will be hoping for more medal success at the IWAS World Games this week.
