World Abilitysport has announced that the 2027 World Abilitysport Games will be held in Samsun, Türkiye, from 4–11 October 2027. Building on the success of previous events hosted by NPC Türkiye, the Games will feature international competition across a growing programme of Para sports. Further details on the full sports programme will be announced this autumn.
World Abilitysport is delighted to announce that the 2027 World Abilitysport Games will be hosted in Samsun, Türkiye, from 4 to 11 October 2027, marking the third consecutive World Games delivered in partnership with Local Organisers, the National Paralympic Committee of Türkiye.
The Games will complete a landmark trilogy of World Abilitysport events hosted by NPC Türkiye, following the hugely successful inaugural 2025 World Abilitysport Beach Games and the 2026 World Abilitysport Youth Games both held in Mersin, Türkiye.

Located on the Black Sea coast in northern Türkiye, the 2027 host city of Samsun is a vibrant sporting city with an established legacy of hosting major international events. The city successfully welcomed thousands of athletes and officials for the 2017 Summer Deaflympics, earning widespread recognition for its world-class venues, warm hospitality and organisational capabilities. Building on this experience, Samsun provides the perfect setting for staging the next World Abilitysport Games.

The 2027 programme has confirmed inclusion of a World Para Fencing Satellite Tournament with LA28 Paralympic ranking points and a Badminton World Federation World Circuit Tournament, which will offer six days of competition for athletes pursuing qualification towards the LA2028 Paralympic Games.

Discussions are also ongoing for the inclusion of Boccia, Para athletics, Para swimming, Para table tennis, Para taekwondo and shooting Para sport.
In line with World Abilitysport’s strategic commitment to expanding competitive opportunities for sports outside the Paralympic Games programme, and with the support of the Local Organising Committee at NPC Türkiye, the inclusion of adaptive sepak takraw, ten-pin bowling, Para dance sport, Para golf and Para arm wrestling are also being explored.

From 20–23 April, representatives from World Abilitysport and NPC Türkiye undertook a comprehensive site visit to Samsun to identify the venues and facilities for the proposed sports of the 2027 Games.

The visit was attended by NPC Türkiye Secretary General and President of the Local Organising Committee, Serkan Baltacı, Event Director Hüzeyfe Sığırcı, NPC Türkiye Director of Sport, Elif Güzel, alongside World Abilitysport Head of Sport, Harry Cootes, and Head of Operations, Elin Luce. The delegation visited an extensive range of sporting facilities, from golf courses and athletics tracks to ice rinks and indoor arenas, whilst also reviewing the wider logistical framework required to deliver the Games in the city.
World Abilitysport President Rudi Van den Abbeele welcomed the announcement of the 2027 host city, saying, “We are delighted to return to Türkiye for what promises to be another outstanding edition of the World Abilitysport Games. The National Paralympic Committee of Türkiye has proven to be an exceptional partner, delivering two highly successful World Abilitysport events, and I have every confidence that the 2027 Games will raise the bar once again.”
“I would like to sincerely thank our Vice President, Murat Aksu, and the entire NPC Türkiye team for their unwavering commitment throughout this journey. Their vision and determination to push boundaries has made a significant contribution to the growth of the Paralympic Movement and the wider Para sport community.”
“We look forward to welcoming athletes from around the world back to Türkiye in 2027!”
World Abilitysport will continue to update members with the full sports programme in the autumn.
