The 2025 World Abilitysport Beach Games will host the Games debut of Modern Pentathlon Para LaserRun in Mersin, Türkiye.

This International Open, that will welcome athletes in classes PMP1 to PMP5, is due to take place at the host city’s impressive Fenerbahce Square overlooking Mersin Marina and the Mediterranean coastline.

Para LaserRun is a fast-paced, dynamic event where athletes run or push 300m laps stopping to shoot at laser targets before progressing to the next lap. Both individual and mixed relays will be hosted at the Games.

UIPM World Pentathlon Para Commission Chair, Dr Nicola Robinson said, “We’re proud and excited  to see Para LaserRun debut at the World Abilitysport Beach Games — a dynamic, inclusive stage that highlights the sport’s accessibility and gives athletes across multiple sports classes an unique opportunity to shine on a global platform in a multi-sports setting.”

The sport will be one of seven sports featured on the competition programme of aquatic, beach and open-air disciplines, including Beach ParaVolley’s World Championships and a World Para Powerlifting World Cup recently announced for the programme.

NPC Türkiye and Local Organising Committee President, Murat Aksu said, “We are greatly looking forward to working with UIPM World Pentathlon towards the hosting of Para LaserRun at the Beach Games. The sport will be hosted in the central hub of Mersin’s lively beachfront and the fast-paced nature of LaserRun will provide a fantastic experience for athletes and the city’s spectators alike.”

Entry by number for the Games will open in the coming weeks with final entries closing in early September.
