With CPISRA Race Running included in the forthcoming IWAS World Games 2011, we were pleased to hear that the recent 15th Race Runners Cup saw 24 New World Records broken and overall was a successful event.
This year’s Race Runners Cup and Camp was held at Frederiksberg Stadium in Copenhagen, Denmark with a great at
tendance of the world’s elite racerunners that competed for glory and met up with fellow athletes from all over the world.
Of the 24 new world records, several were achieved in the Junior Cup and a high number partly due to the new standards of classification that were applied this year.
The 123 athletes, referees and assistant from Austria, Brazil, Denmark, Faroe Island, Portugal, Scotland, Sweden and USA also took part in a number of social events and met up with new and old friends and fellow athletes. Many used the opportunity to get advice from other athletes and tips on equipment and training
methods.
The new classification system was implemented this year and this was also the subject of a seminar for officials fro
m around the world, which took place during the event. The new system ensures that athletes compete against opponents with the same physical conditions to make sure that they have as fierce and challenging competition as possible during races and training.
Following from meetings between IWAS and CPISRA an invitation was extended to CPISRA for inclusion for Road
Racing to the forth coming IWAS World Games to be held in Sharjah, U.A.E in December 2011. This is part of a bigger partnership that has the ambition of promoting Race Running throughout the world.

About Race Running:
Race Running is an innovative sport for disabled athletes with impaired balance. A Race Runner is a specially designed three-wheeled “running-bike” without pedals, which gives the athlete a better sense of balance. Thus, Race Running is golden opportunity for spastics, arthritis sufferers and amputees to enjoy the benefits of sport and compete on a high level. Race Running offers disabled people who are usually only able to get around in a wheel chair the chance to experience the speed and force that lies within their bodies by riding the specially designed Race Runner.
