On Thursday 3rd December, IWAS welcomed friends and supporters to the new IWAS headquarters to celebrate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2015. With the 2015 theme of ‘Inclusion Matters’, the day began with involving students at the new premises in the work of IWAS through a Wheelchair Fencing demonstration from ex-Team GB fencers, Viv Mills and Simon Wilson. Spectators were soon donning the fencing aprons and masks relishing in the opportunity to fence with the professionals!
With coaching and support from IWAS Services Manager and GB Wheelchair Fencing Coach, Hilary Sahota, students and staff alike took to the piste closely followed by Bucks TV’s, Richard Carr and Inside the Games journalist Daniel Etchells.
IWAS CEO Charmaine Hooper said, ‘It is great for friends and supporters of IWAS to see the new headquarters as we embark on a fresh wave of development and growth for the Federation. We are looking forward to a successful and exciting future for IWAS, IWAS sports and our member nations.
