As the 2011 IWAS World Junior Games comes to the end and the athletes begin their journeys home, we hope that they have enjoyed their time in Dubai.

As the 2011 IWAS World Junior Games comes to the end and the athletes begin their journeys home, we hope that they have enjoyed their time in Dubai.

The opening ceremony that took place Sunday 17th April, saw the Dubai Club for Special Sports as the local organising committee (LOC) welcome the 220 athletes from 21 countries to Dubai, and promised to offer an amazing sporting platform for them.

Included in the opening ceremony was the parade of teams, a reading for the Koran and the pledge of sportsmanship on behalf of the athletes and referees, before a firework display marked the opening of the games.

The program of sport opened the same evening with the first race, the 1500 metre event taking place after the opening ceremony.

Following this the games saw a further three days of sport, including Table Tennis, Powerlifting and Athletics. Results of these will be available on the IWAS website within a few days.
