IWAS General Assembly 2009

The main event in the IWAS series of meetings in Bangalore, India occurred on Tuesday 24th November with the 2009 General Assembly. The occasion saw delegates from the member nations participate in the vital role of election of the IWAS Executive Board 2009 – 2013. We are pleased to announce that the President, Paul DePace (USA) and Vice President Karl Vilelm Nielsen (DEN) were successfully re-elected for the following four year term.

The occasion saw delegates from the member nations participate in the vital role of election of the IWAS Executive Board 2009 – 2013. We are pleased to announce that the President, Paul DePace (USA) and Vice President Karl Vilelm Nielsen (DEN) were successfully re-elected for the following four year term.
We are also pleased to announce three new members to the Executive Board as Members at Large,
Tariq Sultan Almansouri (UAE)
Pieter Badenhorst – (SA)
Konstantina Sotiriadi – (GRC)
Also the re-election of Juan Palau Fracas (ESP), Seyed Amir Hosseini (IR), Oriol Martinez (ESP) and Rudi van den Abbeele (FRA) as Members at Large.
As one of his first duties Pieter Badenhorst from South Africa gave a brief presentation on the previous days Development Summit where a summit Declaration was announced and endorsed by the membership.
The motion from the IWAS EB for the independency of IWAS Wheelchair Rugby was fully endorsed by the Assembly and a successful transfer of Governance from IWAS to the International Wheelchair Rugby Federation was achieved.
