Disability Games Foundation to host games in Stadskanaal, Netherlands
11th IWAS World Junior Games 2015 to be hosted by the Dutch organisation, Disability Games Foundation in Stadskanaal, the Netherlands 2nd to 8th July 2015.
One month after the start of the 10th IWAS World Junior Games held at Stoke Mandeville UK, the International Wheelchair and Amputee Sports Federation (IWAS) is looking forward to work with the organising committee, Disability Games Foundation (DGF), to bring the next IWAS World Junior Games to the Netherlands and build on the success of the IWAS World Games that was held at this venue in 2013.
One of the positive aspects of the 2013 IWAS World Games was that all of the sport and accommodation was located within walking distance on the same site, reducing the need of transport during competition. DGF have again selected the Pagecentrum Holiday village which offers a unique and accessible venue to once again be the main venue for the event.
The following sports have been put forward for inclusion on the programme for the 11th IWAS World Junior Games 2015:
- Amputee Football
- Archery
- Athletics
- RaceRunning
- Swimming
In addition to the sports listed above that will be part of the official games programme, IWAS, in co-operation of the IWAS Sports Executive Committees, Electric Wheelchair Hockey and Wheelchair Fencing, are planning to put on competition in these sports.
