The competition programme will feature an eclectic mix of aquatic, open-air and beach disciplines alongside a Sport Expo from Para surfing at venues along the host city’s Mediterranean coastline.

Para Powerlifting will take centre stage with World Para Powerlifting’s first-ever outdoor World Cup. Hosted in the beachside amphitheatre of Mersin Kültür Park, athletes will lift their way into the history books against the backdrop of the Mediterranean Sea.

The growing sport of Para Laser Run under Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne, will make its debut inclusion in a multi-sport Games and will see athletes race a 150m stretch along the city’s coastline with the sport’s shooting element held at the city’s iconic yellow and blue Fenerbahce Square.

Pompei Beach will play host to Badminton World Federation’s first ever Para AirBadminton international. This milestone event for the new discipline of the sport will see athletes in Para Badminton standing classes compete in singles, doubles and triples using a wind resistant shuttlecock called an AirShuttle.

Also heading for Pompei Beach, World ParaVolley will host their second ever standing Beach ParaVolley World Championships, but the first hosted in Europe, in Mersin. Poland’s men’s team will be looking to defend their World Championship title over four days of competition against teams including Latvia, USA and Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The tri-nation Adaptive Sepak Takraw competition to be hosted at the city’s coastal hub has gained official recognition for the first time from the International Sepaktakraw Federation (ISTAF). The recognition follows a milestone collaboration between World Abilitysport and ISTAF in the global promotion of the adaptive discipline of the sport.

Meanwhile on the picturesque Mersin Marina, Para Inclusive Sailing will sail into the spotlight in its first appearance at a World Abilitysport Games with crew set to take twelve new Hansa 303 boats out for their maiden competition.

Adding to the excitement, the World Abilitysport Games will be welcoming first-time participants from countries including Tanzania, Costa Rica, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Guinea, and Oman.

The Games mark the first event hosted between World Abilitysport and the National Paralympic of Türkiye, following the partnership agreed in November 2024 that will see a closer working relationship between the two organisations.
