Frame Running classification rules approved by World Para Athletics
08/05/2021
CPISRA are delighted to hear that World Para- Athletics have announced to their members that the Frame Running Classification rules have been approved. This is a wonderful step forward for Frame Running and is a result of many years of hard work by many people.
- That the proposed name change from RaceRunning to Frame Running was approved by the IPC Governing Board at their meeting in March
- The proposed 2 class structure of Frame Running to be approved and integrated into the WPA classification under the sport classes T71& T72 was also approved by the IPC governing board.
- The new Frame Running Classification will be adopted into the WPA Classification Rules and Regulations post Tokyo subject to the final approval of the required changes to the WPA Classification Rules and Regulations.
As a result, CPISRA will follow suit and now refer to RaceRunning as Frame Running and over the coming weeks will amend our website to reflect this change.
This announcement is the culmination of 5 years of hard work by CPISRA staff, volunteers, and our research team. Thanks, should be given to the researchers at Edinburgh & Queen Margaret University without whom this landmark could not have been achieved.
