Electric Wheelchair Hockey World Championships 2014 to be in Munich


Event awarded to IWAS German member Deutscher Behindertensport Verbande.v to be held at the Munich Olympic Park

IWAS Electric Wheelchair Hockey World Championship 2014

The International Wheelchair and Amputee Sport Federation (IWAS) announced on Monday, 22 April 2013 that the bid to host the IWAS Electric Wheelchair Hockey World Championship 2014 has been awarded to the Deutscher Behindertensport Verbande.v and the city of Munich, Germany.  The event will take place from 4 to 11 August 2014 at the Munich Olympic Park.

After receiving the final recommendation from the IWAS Committee of Electric Wheelchair Hockey (ICEWH), the IWAS Executive Board returned a unanimous vote for the event to be held in Munich next year.


In her reaction Saila Luumi (FIN), Competition Officer, ICEWH said "The surroundings for the World Championships 2014 are epic as the games will be held in the former Olympic Village of Munich. The accommodation will be in a very modern hotel and a short distance from the competition venue. The Organizing Committee, which is also the German EWH organization, has the full support of the council of Munich. These championships will be a terrific experience for all the participants and spectators"
