CLASSIFIERS HAVE IMPORTANT ROLE AT IWAS WORLD GAMES

With the swimming competition about to start at the IWAS World Games the classification team have had an important role to play. As the swimmers get use to the surrounding and routines of a big multi sports competition, new swimmers have been classified.

Preparation for the games started to take shape on Sunday with classification, an essential and critical area of disability sport. The Chief Swimming Classifier, Hanoch Budin and his colleague Jill Gordon have taken leave from the day jobs, as management consultant and medical doctor to volunteer their services to the sport.

Tony Ward Technical Delegate appointed by the International Paralympic committee said:

“The Classifiers have been doing a fantastic job for the swimmers taking more through classification than originally expected. They have a critical role in ensuring that they are classified in the right category as this is the start of their international career. ”

The swimming starts at 11.00am on Wednesday morning followed be finals from 2.00pm each day.
